How our minds work
I am fascinated by the human mind. We can process so much information, perform complex tasks, and even use imagination to dream of whatever we choose. Yet so many take this amazing muscle for granted, thinking of it as a calculator or computer, a storage device rather than a well of possibility.
I remember reading once that we only use a small percentage of our brains (10% if I recall correctly). I am very intrigued what the other 90% has the potential to do.
The way in which we think about and react to things is a very complex process. Our behaviours can all be traced back to particular events - for example a fear of dogs may be traced back to being chased by a dog perhaps whilst young, seeing someone else being chased by a dog, or just learning from someone else that dogs should be feared.
This then creates an anxiety whenever you see a dog - even if you yourself may have never had a direct negative experience with a dog. As most dogs are generally friendly, then this anxiety is somewhat unnecessary.
Imagine all the attitudes and fears that will have built up over the years, many of which will not be that helpful and can lead to anxiety and stress.
Hypnotherapy allows you to re-program your mind, and overcome these fears and anxieties. Fascinating.
Welcome to the Hypnocentre
Hello, and welcome to the Hypnocentre website. Here we aim to provide a resource for all your hypnotherapy needs, from information through to audio downloads.
I am not a hypnotherapist, but I am very interested in the subject and through this blog will share my journey of discovery in this fascinating field. I am amazed at the power of the mind, and how we can harness its power to bring about positive change.
I like to think that we each have the potential to take charge of our own destinies, and that we are all capable of being happy and healthy. Of course, we will all face stressful situations from time to time, but if we can develop good strategies for coping with this then we can all come out the other side relatively unscathed.
